"AN embarassing question"

Posted by jacki on Dec-16-01 at 02:32 PM
I have a rather embarassing question. But whom can I ask but the experts on this page who have been through it all?

For those of you who have ever been on Topamax- Have you ever had problems having an orgasm? I never have since being on it since July until the past week. I don't know if it's the Topamax or fatigue. It wasn't for lack of trying.

I'll quit blushing now.

Jacki

Jacki--I was anorgasmic on topamax. Inasmuch as a sexual climax resembles a little seizure, and topamax is an anti-convulsant, I guess you could say it worked. Just one of the reasons I decided not to stay with it.

I am completely asexual for short periods of time on Topomax. Then it goes away and I am fine.

Hang In There!

Hi everyone, Jacki I am not sure about the topomax as I don't remember having any side effects from it when I tried it, but I was wondering are you on any other meds? If you are on any anti-deppresants that could be the culprit as they have a tendency to cause sexual problems. Hope you figure out what's causing this, as if you need anymore things to frustrate you, migraines are definately enough. If you cannot figure out what is happening, try asking the doctor or pharmacist they may have the answer and who cares about embarrassment, Good Luck bye Roxy.

I had this "problem" only once from taking the vicodin. Usually...I don't have sex when I take it cause I am in too much pain. But this time...well I'll leave out the details.

I usually have no problem at all with "you know what I mean" so it was very frustrating.
I wouldn't doubt that it has something to do with the medication.

I figured that it kinda surpresses stuff....so why not an orgasim too.
And yes....when I was on antidepressants, I couldn't for a year!! That was what made me change my mind about that route
*lol*

I wasn't on Topamax long enough for it to interfere. It was doing too many other things to me like fainting, high heart rate, and high B/P.

Neurontin did make me anorgasmic. Vicodin has never bothered me. I just quit taking Zonegran. I was on it for 12 days. I was anorgasmic during that time, along with a bad headache 24/7.

I think I am going to start faking it, I hardly ever get one now, & by the way my doc raised me up to 300mg, I am on 225 now and inching my way up. I am not sure if it is the Topamax or Effexor. BLEH. Why can't I get the weight loss side effect????????????????????????????/

Sex is the last thing on my mind anymore with these migraines. I can't even remember the last time??????

I mean even with the methadone that I take I still have a migraine at about a 4 and in the evenings it is a little bit worse than that, especially the last 3 weeks (and its not holiday stress, I cheated this year and did all of my shopping over the internet) I just think I need to increase my dosage a little bit maybe.

Plus the massage therapy that I have been getting has really got my neck muscles kind of acting up, so I am not sure if that is good or bad.

They were kind of stowed up now he is finally getting in there and getting them loosened up and they have all kind of knots and they are so tight they are like cables running from my neck and shoulders.

But seriously sex just isn't on my mind. And my husband respects that and understands.

If I did anything else it would be fake, it is not because I don't desire or love my husband but the pain is to great and there is absolutely no way that I could have an orgasm and if I did it would greatly increase the migraine. Maybe it is that fear that makes me not want to also. Because I do know that it will increase the pain.

Wishing everyone many painfee days.

Patty

Wishing everyone many painfree days.

Well Helihunia!!SPSP I thought I was the only one!! Sorry about the spelling but I thought i was the only one, definately not alone I guess.

But I am a little different than the other posts as migraines have NOT been able to control my sex life, only when I am literaly vomiting otherwise no go. I decided a long time ago since my husband and I have always been....how shall I say it very close as far as our sex life goes, that i would try hard not to let my condition also interfere with that. However it goes without saying that I know that my migraine is going to hit an all time high aterwards but for the most part it is usually worth it for other reasons, and my husband is well aware of what i go through, so he is very thoughtfull on the afterpart and at times it may mean him getting up in the morning as I have a horrible time getting to sleep, but well worth it.

Kindof off migraine topic, but I was so glad to here that the same happens to others, I guess nice to know I am not alone.

Wish you all a good week, bye Roxy.

I started taking Depakote on Dec 21. I have been anorgasmic since then. My husband is getting a complex. I don't usually have this problem. Boo!

Now I don't know if it was the Topamax or not. last night everything was fine, if you get my drift. More than fine, it was great. Maybe before, I was just fatigued. Time will tell

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as you all are. Orgasim brings on migraines. My wife hates it, because she hates giving me a migraine!!!!
