I am curious how many people get numbness in the
left arm or anywhere when experiencing migrains.
I have this every time.
Hi Jean,This was the reason that I was chunked into the "complicated-migraine" group...During some of my migraines, I look as if I have had a stroke. My right side droops and becomes very hard to use or control... numbness in my face, lips and tongue on the right side...slurred speech...
This doesn't happen everytime I have a migraine, but when it does, it is very pronounced.
Hope this is the info you wanted

Hey Jean,I get numbness in vary places of my body. Currently its my mouth, scalp and left arm. Right thigh likes to catch fire.

Lou, my husband does the same as you, I believe the doctor says it mimics Bells Palasy. Didn't know that qualified as a complicated migraine. Thought you had to have more weird stuff (like Richard-no offence Richard). Not that a new label helps, just caught my attention.

I get numbness in my face, tongue, hands and sometimes my feet (usually on the left side) after the aura has gone away. It's scary as hell, but I've become used to it![]()
I too have the right sided facial numbness and once had stroke-like symptoms. It was scary at first, but I have gotten used to it.
It doesnt happen everytime but I will go numb in the scalp and the forehead. It feels very strange when I rub my temples when this happens. This is usually how I notice it though, when i go to rub my head to help with the pain.
I really havent noticed it happen much of anywhere else though. I will get some "tingles" like parts of my body are going to, or waking up after being "asleep". Know what I mean?

Not every time but often i have the right hand ( two smaller fingers and the side of the hand) and into the wrist go numb, like it fell "asleep". Never gave it much thought or to much concern since the feeling has always come back. So what does that mean? or do I want to know?
Numbness and paralysis are a normal part of migraines for me now. Do be sure to be checked out, though. I had the worst numbness for a while and thought it was JUST a migraine, as if. Found out it was spurs on my spine. So that got added to my ever growing list of stuff to deal with on an everyday basis. ( I keep clicking my heels, but I never get anywhere. Darned WWotW and her monkeys keep getting on my back!)
Both my hands and feet are regularly numb. Bad episodes can mean whole arms or legs, especially the right side. Part of my right hand is never not numb. Hope this helps some.rosered
Hi! I get weak/numb/paralyzed on my right side with my BIG BAD migraines. It used to be every migraine up until last September when I was put on Oxycontin. Now it is about every other month. My migraines are luckily now manageable at home. I only get checked out for the above mentioned if it doesn't go away within 48 hours, an agreement between my doctor and me. In 1994 I had a stroke from a complicated migraine. Now my migraines are classified as Complicated Hemi-Plegic Migraines. I have no residual effects from the stroke, and even though my current weakness, etc... happens frequently, I do not toy with it, as it IS difficult to distinguish between a stroke and the plain hemi-plegia.Take Care,
Molly
Dave as long as the feeling comes back your probably OK but be sure and mention it to your doctor if you haven't already. If the ulna (sp?) nerve has been damaged or entrapped it can cause those fingers to go numb or feel tingly all the time.
Probably yours is from the migraines, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

My name is Heather and this is my first time on this discussion forum. I have been having this same question for a while. I have numbness in my left pinky, right forearm, and left side of my forehead. I also can't form words correctly and sound rediculous. This doesn't help because I am a teacher. My students look at me like I'm from another planet. When they do, I know to take my medicine, I'm getting another migraine. It seems to be happening more and more lately though. I also black out and I have been shaking. any ideas?Heather
