"Neuro visit was Wednesday"
Wednesday was my 2-month check up at the neuro. That's the first time I have gone 2 months between visits. Usually it's monthly.

I am doing ok.

The daily pain is less severe, indocin is working well for the pain, and I took it fewer days on average than I have for a few years (not that I've been using indocin for years, but less than any pain med).

He was still frustrated that my pain is still present.

Gotta love the guy that wants you to be entirely pain-free.

I have been getting more mini auras.

I go back in 3 months. WOW, 3 months!

He said if the mini auras are the same or more frequent we will increase my atacand and my nortriptyline.

I finally feel like there is light at the end of the pain tunnel.

Sending rays of sunshine from the desert,

Lynelle

Hi Lynelle,

I have a question about the nortriptilyene(sp?). My GP had me on that but it made me more loopy and my back hurt in the morning. So they just switched me to desipramine as a preventative (it's in the same family). My question is how long have you been taking the nortriptilene and has it really helped? I don't feel like I had tried the nortriptilene for long enough perhaps. I'm just nervous because they had to run an EKG on me just so I can take this new anti-depressant. Apparently it's not so good on your heart. Scary, right?

ANd I was happy to hear you are from the desert. I'm a desert baby myself. Although you wouldn't know it considering how much rain i see in Japan!

Best wishes,
gfg

Sounds great, Lynelle! Progress, no matter how slight, is always encouraging. I hope you continue to do better so you don't have to increase your meds. Hate that!

I'm glad you have a great neurologist. Mine thinks that eventually I can be off all my meds. Personally, I think he is living in a fantasy world but I will stick with the treatment he prescribes and play it by ear.

Hope you have a good day today.

Kathy

Lynelle,

Wow! What good news! So glad that you are feeling better and that the Indocin is helping the pain.

Two months between appts is great! In past years, I have actually seen the doctor weekly and what a pain that is.

I have been doing better since the Oxycontin and when I find the right dose, I may not have to go in monthly either so I can appreciate how you feel. There were times that I am sure my doctor got sick of seeing me!

Thanks for sharing with us, it helps us all to hear encouraging news!

Take care!

Love,

Cindy

Lynelle,

I'm so glad for you. How awesome to be feeling so much better and to have such a sense of hope for the future. Fantastic!

I sometimes think, "if I were the First Lady, how would my migraines be responded to?" (same question I used to ask myself when my partner was being treated for cancer).

The standard should be the same. It sounds like with your neuro, it is. He wants you pain free, period. Why shouldn't he have that kind of standard for your life? You totally deserve it.

Glad for you,

Cindy

Hi Lynelle,
I am so happy for you! It is so nice when light finally starts to make the shadows flee away some.

May it continue!

Shelly
