"weekend migraines"
I have noticed lately that I have been getting my migraines more on the weekends. Is there any reason for this? Does anyone else seem to have this problem? Thanks!

1. "RE: weekend migraines"
Weekend headaches are quite common and are often caused by sleeping in (something most people can't do during the week). If that is the reason, it's best to keep to a regular sleep pattern.

That may not be the cause of yours though.

There's also the "let down migraine" concept, where once you slow down for the weekend your body responds with a migraine, opposed to during the week when it's rush-rush-rush with lots of stress.

When I had my first migraines I was told that caffeine withdrawal is often a trigger on weekends. changing from drinking tea/coffee at work and having much less on week ends....
Or even if you don't work a change of routine on a week end.
I found it didn't apply to me, but did have two friends who found it did,.

When I was working, before my migraines stopped that being possible, I actually found most of them fell on Sunday night to Tuesday afternoon. Because that meant I tended to take more Monday's off because of migraine, I think my boss assumed I was "pulling a sickie" to have long weekends. I must admit I haven't looked at that statistic in these last two years to see how they're spread out now.

I also tend to get more on weekends. I look forward to the weekends and I've found that anytime I am excited, looking forward to, or just plain happy I end up with a migraine. It sucks. If I'm just going about my routine--nothing changing, boring I do not get migraines. Any change in mood, weather--things like that, are triggers for me. I can't have any "peaks" in my mood.

I also get a lot of weekend migraines. i think it is a let down response from working all weekend. I relax and here comes the migraine. This has happened for years has ruined many a weekend for me.
