"Propoxyphene-n 100mg. has anybody else tried this med.?"
Monday I went to my neurologist; he had changed
some of my medication as to upping the dosages but
I asked him if I could be amuned to the one medication for pain cause the pain killer didn't
seem to me as to working? He never answered me,
but deceided to change the prescribtion to
propoxphene-n.
Well, Tuesday I had a slight migraine so I decided to try the new medication instead of better I got sicker than a dog. What started out
being a slight migraine became an explosive migraine, I couldn't keep any meals down, I did not start feeling better until 1am. The next day
I called my doctor; his nurse told me I was wise
not to take it but said he had to talk to my doctor more and call back. When he called back
he said the doc thinks it was just a one time fluk
but I should try it again as to headache pain if it happen again then they'll have to go back to my
original pain killer. I thought I was going to
die it scared the heck out of me, but I am to keep my doc posted. Has anyone else tryed this
same medication and what happen when you did. I'd
like your input on this medication. Of all meds.
I've been on I've never experienced anything like this before and I do know a lot about migraine.
I've been on a lot of medications for migraines in 19yrs. but this one I need feedback obn about.
Please.

Good Morning Awesome!

I hope you are feeling better. The Propoxyphene-N 100 is the generic to Darvocet. Propoxyphene is the minor pain med and it had the added Tylenol. Check out:

www.rxlist.com

To me, Darvocet is on the lower rung of pain meds. Unless I have absoultly nothing to use I will take 2, but it sometimes does upset my stomach. It's not my pain drug of choice. I can't emphasise? enough using the rxlist.com for any questions pertaining to meds of any type. They even have message boards for some meds like Vicodin. I have also found taking an anti-nausea med or even Dramamine if it makes you queasy. It might make you a bit drowsey but that's better than nauseated. Try the Non-Drowsey type, works better.

Hope this helps,

Lynda

Just for reassurance, Lulubel is right, I take the Darvacet all the time, when needed. It can upset my stomach sometimes, not always. I use it with Migranal and if I catch the migraine at the very begining, the 2 can kick my migraine with alot of success. Did you take 2 pills or just one? I don't take 2 pills together ever anymore, and if I do need a second, I wait an hour or so. It isn't the best migraine pain medicine, but it is pretty easy to get if you ask for it.

That is a shame. Darvocet (brand name of the proproxyphene) always worked like a charm for me. I haven't taken it in a long time, mainly because the dr. wants to make sure we are preventing the migraine instead of just reacting (although my current neuro is a good guy re: prescriptions). It knocked them out and I very rarely had rebound after 4 hours (except for my week-longers!) It is a schedule 4 drug in usa, mildly physically addictive, more so psychologically.

I would try it again. You may just have had a really nasty mig. that day with stomach as well. I have several "combos" that I have to take depending on the type of migraine. We often take something only once and dismiss it out of hand. Good luck and take care!--Di
