"Constant Headache 24/7 for 8 years and also get migraine headaches 1-2 times a month. Help!"
Hi
I am a 24 year old female.I have a constant headache 24/7 and migraines 1-2 times a month for 8 years. I woke up one morning feeling nausious and had a bad headache. I have had a headache ever since. I have been to nurologists, chiropractors, naurpaths, acupuncture, had CT Scan, MIR, Lumbar Puncture and countless other tests and specialists. I have also tried lots of different medications. I am SICK and TIRED of having a headache all the time.

Sometimes my headache is all over my head, sometimes on the forehead, and sometimes on the sides of my head and back of head.

My doctor is now saying that it is due to stress, and that is all in my mind! I was so mad at him for saying that. I don't have stress in my life except for these headaches!! Why do doctors have to say its stress? Why can't they say I really don't know what to do next? I am frustrated and want to have a normal life.

I have to go about life with a mask on pretending that I am not in pain, people give their support but really don't know what I am going through especally since I look normal. I wish I could just take my head off and give my self some relief! Its just NOT FAIR.

My dentist has made me a mouth appliance for me to wear all the time.It goes on all my top teeth. He says I am clenching and grinding my teeth especially at night. He can tell this because my teet are wearing down and getting sensitive to hot and cold. He thinks this could be causing my headaches.

He has thought this all a long but has not be able to make an appliance that works. I wore it for over 2 weeks and saw no difference in my headaches. I only wear it at night now. Still no difference in my headaches

I am planning a trip to England for August. I have relatives there that I want to vist. I am scared that I am going to have a bad headache or get a migraine headache while I am there. It is not fair that I have to been thinking this way. My parents say that isn't the way to think and that if I get a bad headache then just to rest until I can handle it again.

I went to a new doctor last week and he has given me Imitrex nasal spray for me to try when I get a migraine. It works in 15 minutes if it works. I hope it does. He has also put me on a blood pressure medication called PROPRANOLOL. He says it is used for many things one being a preventative for headaches such as migraines. I will go on it in 7 days. He first wants me to slowly go off Amitriptyline which I was taking for my headaches. That medication didn't really work. I hope this other one does. Has anyone taken this prevenative medication? He says it could make me sleepy.

Please if anyone can help or just give their support and friendship, please respond to my message!!
To all those people with headaches, don't give up hope that one day there will be a cure for us.
Take Care

8. "RE: RESPONSE TO MIGRAINES"
Hi Grace,
Thank you for responding to my message. Since I found out I was getting migraine headaches I have cut out foods that are thought to cause them. Chocolate seems to have been a big one for me. I have not had Chocolate for years. That has helped me to have less frequent headaches. I also try to avoid old cheese, kidney beans,MSG and other know food triggers.
Thanks for your suggestions and I will try them as best as I can.How are you doing with your headaches? Do you only get Migraine Headaches? I would be more happy if I jut got the Migraine Headaches but I also have the constant headache to deal with.
Take Care and feel free to e-mail me or write to me here anytime. Keep in Touch

5. "RE: RESPONSE TO MIGRAINES"
hi
Let me introduce myself, my name is Terry and I too suffer from migraines, I have for the past 6 yrs. I have tried all kinds of different meds. to help prevent the migraine from coming on. I took imtrex nasal for awhile and it did help but then my body got use to it and it doesn't help any more. I have been on the amitripline and the proplane(sorry if I spelled this wrong) and for awhile they helped but then my migraines got use to them and now they dont help either. I wish you luck in finding something to help you. Hopefully these will help you each person is different. I just wanted to say that you are not alone and hang in there. Well good luck and may we all have a pain free day and week

6. "diet"
Hi Katherine,
So sorry to hear you are having so many headaches at such a young age. When I started looking around for relief from it about 10 years ago I found an article refered to in a book on headaches in the Lancet, the British medical journal where diet was blamed for 93 % of migraines.
Well, diet, hormones, body chemistry - all play a part in my migraines. Lack of sleep or disruption in sleep pattern and fast changes in the weather all have the potential to cause headaches too. And then I had the type where tight muscles would lock onto a nerve and give a headache for days off and on until I started taking magnesium daily and now I hardly get that type at all< this is the kind I would get from stress sometimes, sometimes from putting my head down when hair washing. Sounds silly maybe but I had a friend with the hair washing one too!
Anyway, be optimistic about your trip to England. Maybe there is someone there who can help you! Keep your eyes open. Lots of people suffer headaches, we are not that unusual.
You should really try the diet diary to try to sort the food thing out if that really is a trigger for you. Not mentioned in the list in the previous reply are things like chocolate, MSG, any wine or fermented drink or fermented food and yeast. Mentioned was that things like roast beef or turkey are all right but if you get a "packaged" sort check for other ingredients like yeast extract. My favourite comfort food used to be cream of mushroom soup made by a major company but I have found that all their soups contain yeast extract which for me is a terrible trigger. Some Nuts, canteloup, beans, egg whites, cultured dairy products of any kind, citrus, corn or other grains can all be triggers.
And that's the thing. Finding out what your personal triggers are. Eat simply to start with. The article I refered to previously recommended lamb and rice as being the least reactive foods and gradually reintroduce foods and see how your boody/headaches respond. Most trigger foods will cause a reaction within 24 hrs. (For me it's from 8 to 10 hrs).
Finding out what my triggers are really helped me until I started going through menopause and now progesterone cream seems to be helping that somewhat. From what I've read on this site I've seen where it helps some women when they have their monthly headaches too.
I have so far only had to use Imitrex and no major preventive drugs. It can be a real drag having to watch your diet all the time but better than having a headache all the time. I found that if I kept to a good diet for most of the time I could occasionally eat some trigger foods without a bad reaction.
So there's lots to try including all kinds of medications but they all have their own side effects.
Good luck whatever you try. Safe journey to England. Don't worry, be Happy. Your headache will come whether you worry or not so skip the worrying part!
Dana

OOPS! Forgot to mention eating out. Most sauces, gravies and soups in restaurants are made with a soup base or boulion cubes etc all of which contain both yeast extract and MSG. Poison to me!

10. "Responding to Dana"
Hi Dana,
Thank you so much for your very kind words! It is nice to talk to people that understand what I am going through.I have tried to cut foods out of my diet that are thought to be migraine triggers. A big one for me is Chocolate. I have cut that out of my diet and have noticed I have less migraine headaches. I wouldn't mind the migaine headaches but its the constant headache that is alful.
You have a very positive attitude that I wish I had, but I am working on it and I am determined to have a great trip to England. I am going August 3rd and coming home September 1st. I will let you know how my trip goes.
I would like to keep in touch with you if you would like to also. Feel free to e-mail me anytime at kemann@cintek.com or write to me here.
How are your headaches lately? Hope you are doing ok.

Dear Katherine

For the past 10 years,I have been getting migraines at an increasing rate till now I am up to daily migraines or migraines which last for days followed by a migraine.

I have been the guiene pig for four nuerologists and have come up empty. I found the ones in California more understanding than the ones I presently have in Illinois. The first ones answer for the pain was to lie in a dark room and wait for it to pass.

I wish you luck. I assume you have read about feverfew - did nothing for me but you might try it. It has to be taken for over 4 monthes generally to be effective.

There is little I haven't tried so I can tell you that while this site is a great thing to have - in the end it is trial and error for each of us and the doctors we get.

One thing you may want to think about is as I understand it England has certain drugs that have not yet been approved here. You might want to check it out

Good luck

LAST EDITED ON Apr-22-00 AT 08:39 PM (CMT)

Hi Katherine,

Been there, done that. I have suffered for 30 years (I was your age when I started having migraines). Mine are very well under control now because of the new meds that have come out in the last few years.

There is a great site you should check out: www.migraines.org. Especially look at the "Current treatment methods". This has been the most comprehensive look at treatment methods I had ever seen and finally made sense of all the meds I've tried over the years. After looking at it you will see that your new doctor is on the right track. Propanonal is a very common preventative drug. And Imitrex is one of the best abortive meds around, although I will say that my doctor (who is great) had me on the pills because he didn't feel like the nasal spray was as effective. FYI. Anyway, as you read this, you will see that all 4 steps they list in the treatments methods are needed at the same time.

One more last thought. My very worst migraines were right before my period (we all know that hormones can play a big part in migraines). Doctor put me on Bellergal for the 5 days before my period and 5 days during me period. Huge relief! Then at age 36 I became so ill with migraines I ended up in the hospital for a week. Long story short, I had started early menapause. Estrogen turned my life around at that point. Still had migraines, but nothing like I was experiencing pre-estrogen.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your quest.

Thank you, first of all, for writing your entire story! I cannot tell you how weird it feels to have had a history so similar to your own! One of my first medications was amitryptaline, others were propranolol (which, I might add, dropped my blood pressure so significantly that it wasn't healthy), caffergot, nortryptaline, depakote, imatrex, zomig, and MANY others. I have been told I am a faker, a drug-seeker (which is FAR from the truth), and that I am just stressed out. All of these things, as you know, are untrue!

I do not believe I have had a headache free day since I was 9 years old. I have had a constant migraine now for 83 days, but I am able, by some act of God, to function at a high fraction of my daily activities. Unfortunately, my activities (I am a student) are very much compromised, but I am able to function. I have worn a smiling face as much as I can, but last year was at an all-time low where I thought suicide was the only way out. I was supremely depressed, and did not know how I could live my whole life in this painful way.

Don't give up hope, whatever you do! I have given up several times for periods of up to two years. It is emotionally and physically distressful to live with migraines. PLEASE, try to find a good doctor that will work with you, respond to you in times of fear, and be compassionate to your needs. It is really important that you have someone in your life that can support you along the way as well. I know that it is hard by experience. If you do not have someone that believes you at all times, please do not hesitate to write me. I will believe you, as I am in a similar situation! I very much feel for your pain, and for your stress levels BECAUSE of the pain.

Please write me. I would like to hear more of your story!

I too had a constant headache 24/7 for 3 years. I was finally diagnosed with TMJ and had surgery to remove one of my discs. After 2 surgeries, the headache was gone!!! I had years of tests and all the doctors told me that "it was in my head". One doctor even wanted to prescribe Prosac! I now suffer from migraines which started after the birth of my second child, but I take Imitrex which does the trick. As a mom of 2 kids under age 5, I can't afford to be down with a headache. I still get a headache now and then and am scared to death that it won't go away. Best of luck to you. I know what you are going through.

Hi Katherine..well, my two cents for what it is worth...i felt so bad when I read your insert and it reminded me so much of myself. I have an upset stomach so much of the time with daily headaches that I'm not real sure what is going on sometimes. I was recently diagnosed with a sinus infection...that showed up on my MRI a year ago..but was never addressed until just a few weeks ago..when i started coughing and post nasal drip. I'm currently on my 23rd day of Augmentin and I was on Biaxin for the 1st week of it...and let me tell you, I think I'd rather have the headache, the way my stomach feels, despite a steady diet of acidophilis. Katherine, don't give up in your quest to find what is causing this headache...it is not normal...it is a message from your body, that something is out of wack! Even if it is stress...it is still very real pain to you and no one, especially someone who has never suffered a headache, has the right to tell you how you feel. I have chronic daily headaches, with transformed migraines and it has been hell. It gets very old, very fast and it wears you down and totally ruins the quality of life..and it is not fair. I have looked somewhat to alternitive medicine....yeah, that is why I'm on antibiotics, hehe. But, there is much to be said for other therapies and especially therapies that really put a strong emphasis on self care and taking care of yourself 100 percent. Make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I have tried to get in the habit of going to the sink and drinking one half to one cup of water ever hour that I am awake. This has really cut down on the severity of my daily headaches as the biggest symptom of dehydration is headache. If your teeth are sensitive to hot and cold due to grinding, use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, as sensitive teeth can trigger headaches. I had no idea that vitamin B6 and B12 were triggers...I take them every day!..sheesh, I'm gonna stop that. I have started to take magnesium and vitamin B2 (riboflavin). If you can't find..plain old riboflavin...ask your pharmacist to order it for you. It can be purchased this way, and it is very inexpensive. Make sure you don't have something going on such as sinus infection or allergies that can lead to headache...and I truly believe that foods are big triggers. I have been doing some aromatherapy and I carry a balm containing lavender, eucyliptis(sp) and peppermint with me to rub on trigger points and it really helps. Even if it is in my head, it helps. Try some very basic things that can cut way down on these headaches. I was on propranalol and it worked great...but it made me so short of breath, I had to quit taking it. Good luck with what you try..and remember, we are all here...sitting on this same boat..waiting for the rescue...so we do understand. Good luck and please feel free to email me anytime you need to vent. Lori

17. "RE: Constant Headache 24/7 for 8 years and also get migraine headaches 1-2 times a month. Help!"
Hello,

My name is Rose and excuse me if I repeat what may have already been said here - I just got thru a whopper of a headache and am still a little "goofy feeling" and reading all of the posts is too much for me right now. This is the first time I have ever been here, but I have suffered from migraine and/or constant headaches since I was about 5 years old (I am now 35). My experiance is similar to yours, 1-2 migraines per months but I almost always have some sort of a headache whether it be sinus, tension, or whatever. My doctor is very supportive and I am currently taking Veralen P.m. as a preventative and toradol, midrin, and/or phenagan to knock out the bad ones. (But like I said I feel really weird for a few hours afterward.) I get sooooo sick of saying "I can't I have a headache" to everything in life. There are times I can be somewhere and realize "Wow I don't have a headache" and I try to savor the feeling. I really can't help much on the triggers because after all this time I still am not quite sure of what mine are. I do know that bright lights, the sun, extreme heat, flashing lights, crying, highly emotional times (good or bad), and not having my caffeine (which I do realize probably makes things worse) and so on. But as far as foods go I have no idea what triggers them.
I have tried the Inderal (propolanal (sp) and it did help me for a while then quit working. This is a little long winded and for that I apologize. I probably can't be much medical help but I sure can understand where you are coming from. I believe that if a magic genie gave me 3 wishes the first would be to never have another headache. I can't even imagine what kind of life that could be. Sorry if this is a little choppy - because my head is so goofy feeling right now I had to leave the computer a few times and come back to finish. I would be glad to talk to you further when "I get myself together". I hope it at least helps to know there are others out there - it helps me. I am wishing you a painfree and peaceful day. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Rose

Hi Rose

Thank you for responding to my message. I am sorry to hear that you are also going through headache pain. I got a really bad headache early this morning and think it was a migraine headache. I woke up and felt horrible about 12:00 to 1:00am. I was also feeling sick to my stomache. I took two gravole and a Imitrex Nasal Spray(first time to try this medication). My fore head was also tingling a lot. I think the Imitrex might have helped a tiny bit. It is hard for me to know for sure as I always have a constant headache 24/7.
I still don't feel very good my stomache is ok now but my head is still aching and it feels very off, if you know what I mean.

I would be interesting to know what works for you and how you manage your pain.

Feel free to e-mail me anytime at kemann@cintek.com or write to me here

Hello,

I am unfamiliar with the drug you mentioned. I have used imitrex and it works on and off (I get the tingling from it too.). I recently went thru a total change of meds (because of rebound headaches) and have only been on the new meds I described to you for about 4 weeks. I have had to use the toradol 2 or 3 times and it works wonders for me! (YEAH!!!) I am going to try the magtab sr that I read about here (I think it was here?!). I figured it can't hurt and if it reduces even slightly it would be worth it. Anyway, I will try to check in nightly so if I can be of assistance - feel free (don't think I won't return the favor!!!LOL). Here's hoping everyone has a painfree evening!

Hello to all the other 24/7s!
My name is Lori, I am 27 and have had migraines for about 10 years. I am currently on a 14 day migraine and I want to scream but that would hurt to much!
Like many of you I have been on more medications than I can even remember or name. Right now I don't feel like I have the capacity to remember yesterday much less last week or year. My drs are not much help and I don't know how to go about getting new ones. I had to beg for an mri and feel like I am a druggie when I go in to see them. I have cut out many food triggers, latex (I work in a hospital), I can't excerise, go to concerts. So many of the things my husband likes to do. Right now I am so cranky at everyone and he gets most of the abuse. If anyone knows a way for him to get more support and understanding please write!
Thanks for letting me vent!

I have very similar storey to yours. Most doctors simply don't have the time or understanding to help us. They always say it's stress. I agree with you, it is only the constant headaches/migraine that give me STRESS. I'm always searching for MY cure. I recently tried injections of Botox. It's only $275.00 in Canada, but I beleive a lot more in U.S. You may be aware it is Botulism, they have been using it since the 1960's for other purposes. Anyway although it has brought great relief for others it has brought me a little relief. The pain is not as painful. It is presenlty being used for the removal of wrinkles in your forehead (that worked great). I also highly recommend Migraine by Oliver Sacks (upadted and revised edition) It is a fabulous book. I read it 2 or 3 times. I know that one day I will find my cure, and hope you do as well - know your not alone and these forums are great - together hopefully we can help one another. Best of Luck!

Hi Ken
Try to e-mail you but it wouldn't go through, some error or something with your e-mail address. Anyway. This is only a short message as I am not feeling well right now but didn't like to keep you waiting any longer.
Thanks for responding to my message on the migrainePage. Yes MSG can be a trigger to migraines. I try and look at lables on foods all the time and make sure that it has no MSG in it. Look on the internet and I am sure you will find more about MSG.
Will write you again when i am feeling better. Take Care

Dear Kathrine,

I have been so worried about you. I thought about you and I know what a shock to your system these Migs are. I felt your pain and frustration and disapointment. I know all those feelings. I understand your feelings and relate to them so well. Did you know there are over 18 million people who have Migs. That's right. I used to take it personally and then shame and then I was hurt very much by the way my pain was translated into "drug seeker" Then one day I said "Hey wait just a minute here! My Great Great-Great-Grandmothers-my Mother and me and now my daughter are good people. We have never harmed anyone and we have not broken any laws(other than maybe a speeding ticket)we have always tried to make other people comfortable and happy and always put everyone else's feelings first and ourselves last.My Grandparents were the stop over place for the president (Pres.Rosevelt) because my grandfather(Rip Smith) was his hunting guide.I also had relatives in the Louis and Clark expedition(the Indian on the new gold dollar was their guide to the Pacific Ocean).I come from 7 generations of ministers and if I kept going you would think I'm making this up just to impress you-I'm not-I promise. Then I remembered that one of my grandparents was editor of the Saint Louis Paper for years and I thought-the pen is mightier than the sword! We are going to have to ban together for the chance to change how Mig suffering people are perceived. Keep notes because one of these days when the time is right we will ban together with all our stories of being treated like lepors and how archaic the methods of our treatment in word and deed has been. We are not seeking pain medication---we are seeking to be pain free.We are made in God's Image and we are not animals and that old way is out dated. We are so much more than those who have tried to keep us under their heels. It is true and eventually "every knee shall bow in the name of Jesus." He says He will make the hidden things seen" I KNOW HE is going to do just that! You hang in there-we are making progress-it won't be too much longer till the right things are done for Migs and the new drugs are comming soon also.
God Bless and give you great strength.
May you have pain free days ahead-He said"I will give you peace-not as the world give it unto thee but as God give it unto thee"
Love in Jesus,
Candles(Judy)

24. "24/7"
I'm am a 45 year old family doctor, who has suffered with headaches for about 20 years. I'd like to share some of my personal and professional thoughts.

My headaches have evolved into the transformed migraine or chronic daily headaches.

I do feel that migraines have patterns. In fact, if your headache has a pattern, it's probably a migraine. Stress can precipitate them, as can release from stress, the so called let-down headache. Certain foods can trigger headaches, but not in everybody. I also think it is Quantity related, and is additive, meaning a small amount may not trigger a headache, but in larger amounts, or in combination, may cause a whoppper.

Painkillers have never been a big benefit to me, though I've stayed away from anything strong...too tempting. Imitrex et al never did much. I find they either work or don't for people, like an on and off switch. I've also been analgesic free for periods of time, without much change. Rebound headaches are real, but not everyone with daily headaches has them.

I think that preventative meds are the key, perhaps in combination with diet and life style changes. Both Elavil (amitriptiline) and Inderal (propranolol) have been used for years, and are still useful. Some meds will block certain brain transmitters, and others will enhance them. Right now I'm on a rather unique combo that seems to be working. Many times a combination therapy will give you more punch and less side effects. Right now, things are pretty good, but I've had many other things seem to work "for a while".

Good luck and I hope your trip goes well.

P.S. Psyduck is a pokeman with chronic headaches that are part of his power.

hi Psyduck,
Thank you for writing to me. It is nice to have support from others who are going through what I am even though I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy. I am sorry to hear you are going through constant headache and migraines like me. I to am on a preventative called Propranolol(sp). I haven't been on it long so I don't know if it will work for me yet. I also am on Amitriptyline at night up to 30mg, it helps me sleep but makes me tired in the morning. I have been on it for 6 years it helps a tiny bit.
If you would like to keep in touch you can write to me here or e-mail me at kemann@cintek.com

Katherine,
Don't get hung up on the original uses of proventive meds. unfortunately, there has been very little developed to prevent headaches, so we use the blood pressure meds, the antidepressants, and the seizure meds. But it's not because headaches are due to depression, seizures, of high blood pressure. Certainly, you can use a med for more than one reason. For example, a person with migraines and high blood pressure would be a excellent person to try propranolol.
Unfortunately, the res Good luck!

Hi Katherine, I'm not going to start off my asking how you feel. Let me just say that I tried the nasal spray last night, then again 15 minutes later, but I was so exhausted by that time, I'm not even sure if it worked, (I also had taken excederin) My doctor also gave me "self injection" imetrex. That is my next step. Let me also say, I do feel your pain. I get a "regular headache" almost everyday. My migraines only come 1 month out of a year, then everyday for a month. I too, like everyone else, have taken everything under the sun, with no relief. The only thing that used to work for me was excederin, even for my migranes. But now I guess I'm at that point where that doesn't even work all the time. I am just so happy to find this website, trying to explain the pain to someone who has never experienced it is frustrating. Thank God my husband is understanding, and has a a couple of migranes in his life. One last note, have you ever tried excederin? please let me know how your doing, and thanks for listening, Cathy.

33. "RE: Constant Headache 24/7 for 8 years and also get migraine headaches 1-2 times a month. Help!"
Hi Katherine and all the others!Thank you all for writing your stories. Although it does not cure my headache to read them, it made me feel a little better to see that I'm not alone. I just now felt so depressed, and I was searching for something that could maybe help me. I really thought that it's only me who has a constant headache (all sorts of it), and that it all only comes from "drug abuse", and I was even starting to feel really guilty as if I were a "druggie". Your stories are quite similar to mine. I've been suffering from increasingly frequent migraines and headaches over the pas 4 or 5 years - I don't even remember clearly - and I have been on different medication all the time. Nothing seems to work, or, as one of you wrote, seemed to work only "for a while". An then: back to the beginning. Now I'm about to contact my doctor again to ask him for some other medecine. Sometimes I really feel I'm "poisonig" myself, but I have no choice. It's no fun - I don't have to tell you! - to live with constant headaches... I've even stopped telling people how I feel, and started to pretend that "everthing's fine". Anyway, as nice as they are, they can't help me, and it get's on my nerves to have all that well-meaning advice how to get rid of my headache. One last thing I wanted to tell you: I was kind of pleased to read in one of the messages that there is a connection between hormones and migraine. My neurologist pretends that there isn't. I don't believe this. First of all my migraine clearly is stronger before and during the periode, and I also think that it is no accident that my migraine and my headaches really became strong and heavy in the last 4-5 years (I'm 40). I really think that this is connected to some sort of preparation for the menopause (and I really hope so, because it would mean that after the menopause, the whole thing might go away...) Does somebody have any ideas about that matter. Thanks a lot to everybody - and wish you all to feel better!!!Evain case somebody wants to contact me: evaferrero@hotmail.com

I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH.I CANT IMAGINE ANYONE GOING THROUGH A SIMILAR SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES AS MYSELF.MY HEADACHES ARE NOT ALL DAY SOMETIMES THE HEADACHE WAKES ME UP BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 3 AND 5 AM OR WHEN I OPEN MY EYES IN THE AM WITHIN MOMENTS I GET A HEADACHE. THE PAIN CAN LAST MOST OF THE DAY FROM TIME TO TIME.I ALSO HAVE CLASSIC MIGRANE HEADACHES WHICH I HAVE ONLY OCCASIONALLY. I TRIED TO TELL MY PREVIOUS INTERNIST THAT THESE HEADACHES THAT I'VE HAD FOR 4 YEARS ARE NOT AT ALL LIKE MY MIGRANES,BUT THAT FELL ON DEAF EARS.FINALLY ONE DAY WHEN MY HUSBAND HAD TO TAKE ME IN FOR AN INJECTION FOR ONE OF THESE HEADACHES HE INSISTED THAT I BE REFERRED TO A NEUROLOGIST. WHILE WAITING FOR MY REFERRAL TO BE AUTHORIZED MY CONDITION WORSENED AND I WENT TO THE ER WITH THICK TONGUE,SEVERE VERTIGO,HEADACHE AND WEAKNESS.THE HEART ATTACK AND STROKE WORKUP WERE NEGATIVE SO THE ER DR CALLED IT----STRESS
I CRIED UNCONTROLLABLY . MY HUSBAND SAID YOU NEED TO STOP WORKING UNTILL WE FIND OUT WHATS WRONG.
I FINALL WENT TO A NEUROLOGIST AND AT MY FIRST VISIT SHE ASKED ME QUESTIONS THAT I DIDN'T THINK
RELATED TO ME BUT I ANSWERED YES TO EVERYONE OF THEM
SHE ORDERED A SLEEP STUDY,AND FOUND THAT I HAVE SEVERE SLEEP APNEA.WHILE MY HEADACHES ARE NOT TOTALLY DONE THEY ARE BETTER SINCE I'VE BEGUN USING THE C-PAP MACHINE.NOW I'M NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE BUT ITS WORTH TALKING TO YOUR DR ABOUT AND HE'LL KNOW THE KIND OF EVALUATION YOU NEED.I REALLY HOPE YOU FIND RELIEF,MY NEUROLOGIST ALSO SUGGESTED I USE EXCEDRIN MIGRAINE AND ONLY USE MY FIORCET IF THE PAIN DOESN'T RESPOND TO THAT
I WISH YOU THE BEST.

Hi,
I am forty six years old and Ihad migraines
since Iwas thirteen. For the past two months
every afternoon at five o'clock I get one.
Ask your doctor if he thinks that you may have
allergies. You can have a blood test to determine
that. Also make a list of all your activities and
foods that you eat.
Good luck.
