"Migra-leve"
Why is this a good med? Just curious. It is just tylenol with codiene and an antihistimime that makes nausea reduce. I have a friend who swears it is the only thing that works and everytime she goes to England she stocks up.

Just curious.

1. "RE: Codeine"
I liked Tylenol with codeine... if you take enough to make you unconscious. I think it helped my pain and if I took enough of it, I got great sleep.

I've already mentioned in a previous post that my doctor wont give me any narcotics anymore so it isnt do'able for me but I would take them if I could get my hands on them.

Is codeine over the counter in England? How does your friend get them - without a prescription?

You can get medications with codeine over the counter (you have to ask for them). One is called Solpadeine (think that's how you spell it). I bought some when I was over there recently. It's basically like tylenol with codeine.

I wonder if Nika has tried Migra leve. Can you only get it there? Maybe if you read this, you can let us know Nika. Have you tried it, and did it help?

Susan, are you in Canada or the States? You can get Tylenol No.l with codeine without a prescription but you have to ask the pharmacist for it. I get it all the time. Maybe you can't in the States, I'm not sure about that.

Benedryl, ( a known antihisitmine) is also recommended by doctors to relieve nausea. It supposed to calm the nervous system some how. Any way, I have taken it myself to relieve nausea when I didn't have anything else. it worked pretty good most of the time. hope that helps. take care, candleshoe

As far as I know codiene is not available OTC at the pharmacy in the USA without prescription. Whereas here in Canada and in England too...you can just ask the pharmacist. I use an OTC called Mersendol that is great. Tylenol w. codiene and a mild muscle relaxant. I was just curious because I have a friend who lives here and loves the migraleve.....it could be because it has no caffiene.

I think Migraleve must be something different in Canada and England than it is here.

In US it is an herbal supplement that has feverfew and vitamins. I dont think you can get codeine here without prescription, too bad.

Yes you can get medications with codiene over the counter in England and a few other countries. New Zealand is another. The codiene in most of these meds is lower dose. It is more like a Tylenol 1 than a Tylenol 3.

As for Mersyndol, I had no idea that even had codiene in it. I will have to check that out.

7. "RE: Migra-lieve - herbal spelled differently"
I think the herbal supplement is spelled with an i in it ... Migra-lieve vs Migra-leve

The herbal one has B2, magnesium, and feverfew in it. I tried it, didnt help me.

I am surprised you can buy codeine over the counter in Canada and England. Is it really "watered" down ( you know what I mean - weak??)

I have taken Benadryl for allergies - it doesnt make me drowsy so I cant use it for a sleep aid, it didnt help my nauseousness either.

I get motion sickness and the OTC drug called meclazine does prevent motion sickness and the nauseousness associated with motion sickness. It does not help the nauseousness with a migraine though (not for me at least)

Hi Susan, the codeine pain meds you can get over the counter in Canada contain 8 mg of codeine and l5 mg caffeine, plus 300 mg acetaminophen in each tablet, and in England it's about the same amount of codeine so they are fairly weak, but they help some people.
