"I beat 'em"
I want everyone here to know that I beat migraines- okay, okay, I outgrew 'em, but I still beat 'em- and I utterly refuse to believe that other people can't too.

love,
Elisheva

Well....You know what? Your statement is a little offensive to me. I'm not sure what you meant. Did you mean we are all like you? Did you mean we can simply give up the migraines? I felt like you were telling me to get over it, and stop having migraines. Were you? I really think you need to clarify yourself.
I have beat malignant melanoma, but I would NEVER say that I utterly refuse to believe that anyone else can't beat it also!!!!

I too find your post a bit offensive. I'm happy to hear that you don't have this Brain Disorder any more, if you really had it in the first place? I am 46, I started having Migraine headaches at age 13. In 33 years I have not *grown out of them*. In fact they have got worse & have effected every aspect of my life. I wish you well.

I could see how Elisheva's post could be taken different ways.... it does seem a little ambiguous, but I sort of feel I need to come to her defense. I'm not speaking for her, but I don't think she meant that the rest of us that have migraines should just be able to "get over" them. The ONLY reason I say this is that there was a previous discussion between us (GUILT TRIP). I feel that her feelings towards the rest of us is more clearly illustrated in that post. I had stated that her experience gave me hope for other migraineurs. Anyhow, I don't mean to be presumptuous... I thought I would try to shed light on a different angle and add my two cents too. Hope everyone has a pain free day!
Love, Liefh

4. "regarding posts "
i agree with you liefh. i check in to this site every day and have read all of elishevas posts. if you haven't readall of her posts, in my opinion, i suppose it could make me defensive also. however,i believe the point she was trying to makefor all of us who suffer is that there is hope! am i right elisheva? i feel she hasbeen very supportive in her previous posts and wants us all to live pain-free lives.there are some of us who will live with this forever. elisheva was one of the luckier ones, and i think she knows that.however, as she has also said in a former post, she still has headaches and doesnot live a pain-free life. this is onlymy humble opinion.

I too, have read her other posts, and that is the reason I would really like to her from her and have her clarify her statement. I hope I am wrong, and will be the first to say so , but I want to know what she meant. So, please come back and tell us, Elisheva. Whatever it is that you mean I do admire your passion! Kathy

I meant just what I said. I'm literal-minded, so if you look for hidden meanings in my posts...well, you just won't find any. My experience with the disorder is very limited compared to many of you. All I know outside of my own experience is a 1997 book by a headache specialist. He says don't ever give up looking for relief, the vast majority of people find it if they keep looking. It can take a long time, to identify triggers as well as find rescue drugs or alternative treatments that work for you, but he says you'll find your relief if you don't give up. I wanted to encourage you NOT to give up, but it seems I put my foot in my mouth. Sorry.

The family doctor never gave me anything for my migraines, nor bothered to refer us to a headache specialist, and I was committed to a state hospital for eight weeks because an idiot told my parents I was psychotic, because of an attack that nearly killed me (dehydration). Forgive me if I'm a little bitter on the subject.

Didn't the message I just posted get in???Stupid keyboard. All right, I'll repeat that my message had no hidden meanings. I wanted to encourage everyone not to give up looking for relief. That's all. I may not have had migraines as long as some of you, but that pain and nausea hit me just as bad as it does you now, and I had the same suicidal thoughts as you have now. If you didn't have migraines when you were a child, imagine lying on your back gasping in agony wanting to die...at the age of seven.Elisheva

And God bless you Suzy and all posters on this forum and all migraineurs on the planet. This Chanukah holiday I will add a special, if off-topic prayer, to the Almighty, blessed be he, to relieve your sufferings. I don't have migraines anymore but je me souviens- I remember.Peace,Elisheva

Thanks for clarifying. I obviously took your post wrong. I really thought you were telling us to get over it already! But...you weren't. I can't remember a time when I didn't have migraines, that includes my childhood. I guess we are the minority that have not found relief....yet! There has got to be something out there that will help all of us, and they just haven't "stumbled" upon it yet. Soon , I hope!

dear elisheva, congratulations! i hope you are migraine free for the rest of your life! i hope this doesn't sound too negative, but my migraines went away for about 20 years, only to return after the birth of my daughter. i am thinking if i had continued to be diligent with stress management, diet and exercise, MAYBE they would have kept themselves at bey!
