I am not sure but I think it's Imitrex. I forgot her name- she was in the news not so long ago..

oops I thought, no, I SAW you asking "what is " ...

Yeah, I did a bit of Google and looks like she - Marcia Cross - became informal "celebrity spokesperson" for people with M as she suffers them herself.
here's about it:

Come to think of it it wouldn't be so bad if these celebrities got together and demanded more public education, more reasearch on M, eh?..

Not too long ago someone posted a link to a contest Imitrex was hosting asking for your worst migraine story, and the prize was getting to meet Marcia Cross (the actress in the picture), who gets migraines herself. It seems that she has done a bunch of migraine-awareness stuff lately, which is never a bad thing.

VickiG,
LOL, I think I deserve meeting Johnny Depp for my worst migraine story!

LOL MM!

Ummm, I was just channel surfing one day this week (maybe Monday) and I think it was ?ABC?, and Marcia was on talking about her summer wedding...I think another/some of her other castmates are getting married (or are at least engaged too). Hmmm...let's hope she doesn't get a migraine on her wedding day/Imitrex 'does the trick'...(seriously!).

She said she was having seven flower girls...I think she has several nieces, and some friends who have girls who she wants in her wedding...she said she wanted them to 'walk her down the aisle' (i.e. instead of having bridesmaids). She said she was "too old for that" (re: having bridesmaids).

(She's 43, and her fiance is 47.)

Below is some interesting trivia on her (for one, she has a Masters degree). Who'd figure the first trivia fact would be 'Marcia suffers from migraines.'? :-0 (LOL)...hmmm...

Take care

Hope you're OK...

Marcia Cross suffers greatly from migraines and I commend her for using her status to bring some more awareness to it. I had the fortunate experience to have dinner with her years ago and she and I spoke at length about migraines.....she gets them very badly.

Is she really doing things independent of Glaxo-Smith to bring awareness to migraines, or is she mostly just a paid imitrex spokes person?

It would be great if she did do more awareness work altruistically, but most likely every time she mentions imitrex she is paid.

We pay Glaxo's huge advertising bill every time we shell out the $200.00 for our pills. Even more for the injections. I just figured out that over the course of Glaxo's 15 year patent lock I will have paid over $50,000. Much of that out of pocket.

Maybe it would be more honorable, but either way she is bringing awareness about M to the public.

I don't care if it is courtesy of GlaxoKline or the Pope.

I see what your saying Risa,
But I just think there is a difference between a 'migraine spokesperson' and an 'imitrex spokesperson'.

I think she does both. Yes, she has a contract w. Imitrex but, she also does personal things for various migraine organizations.

Celebrities always get flack when they do things like this - it seems it is "never" good enough in some people's eyes. But, to me - it is good for the disease as a whole..whether a med company is involved or not.

If she's raising awareness it's not a bad thing.

She's not too bad looking (ok, I'm being bad).
