"American Idol - 4-29-03"
OK Fans - Here's the Review

The guest judge was Neal Sadakka.(sp) Who knew he was child prodigy in the 1950's! His first Grammy was in the 1960's! His hits included "Where the Boy's Are" (Kimberly Locke) and "Proud Mary-big Wheels Keep A Turning" (Trenyce) of Tina Turner fame.

Each Idol sang two songs tonight. The order was (and my scores for their performance on their two songs:

Ruben 9-8 = 17
Trenyce 9-9 = 18
Joshua 7-9 = 16
Kimberly 9-10 = 19
Clay 8-9 = 17

The judges loved Ruben and Clay and Kimberly's second song. They ADORED Trenyce ... she was superlative tonight. Josh sucked on his first song. He keeps sticking up his hand like a pistol. His second song was pure "Josh" though. Clay has fixed his "eye thing." Simon payed him a huge compliment ... siad out of all the "Idol" competitions - British and American - Clay took criticism best, used it best, and his performance tonight was a grown up performance. Simon also said Trenyce was "fantastic." After all the names he called her, that was something.

Outfits? The girls looked sharp, though Kimberly outdressed Trenyce. Ruben tried a grey leather outfit for his first song ... mistake. One could only think "sofa." Josh looked pure "Josh" (most hot) in denim for his second song. Clay did incredibly well in pure black for his second song (and you know I hate to compliment Clay)

There were entirely too many inside jokes between Ryan Seacreast and Simon Cowell ... most with gay overtones. Entirely too many.

As Simon says, "If America gets it right" then Josh will go home tonight. It is a special long results show starting at 8:00 PM.

We voted for Trenyce and Kimberly ... a few more for Kimberly. ATT text voting ... want to win that contest to be treated like American Idols! LOL

Randy said that Ruben should win the whole competition. I disagree. When I close my eyes and listen to him, I don't like what I hear as much as with my eyes open. Exact opposite with Clay. But with Kimberly, eyes open or closed, she is magnificant. Vote for Kimberly ... often!

Hang In There! Tieni Duro! Non Mollare! Tiens Bon! Ne Laches Pas!

Erik and I watched last night.

I liked Ruben's first outfit(was that leather-we don't get that channel in very well? I thought he looked cute.He looked good in the 2nd as well.He can sing very well

Erik actually turned it off and I told him -I need to hear Clay's last song.I went to bed after the show was over.......love that show.

I don't think Josh did as well as last time. Erik and I believe he should do Country. Didn't he sing one of Garth's songs? He was a hottie with that song-don't tell Erik I said that. Just kidding.

WE thought Kimberely was great-especially her second song. She is so pretty-beautiful skin.

Clay is really wonderful. Don't laugh -I think he's cute.He reminds me of a guy I was in Choir with.

Treynce is amazing. Boy, does she have great legs(nice and long). I don't know about her drinking the oil before a perfomance-yucky!Blessings,
Wendy R.

I think it's spelled Neil Sedaka, if we think the same guy.
I haven't had a chance to watch AI anymore, but I always thought Clay should wear black, shiny outfits - to balance his pale complexion. Black leather, dye his hair black.
I am suprised - everytime I read your comments the judges decision changes and changes!
But that what make it so interesting.

I too, noticed Josh and the "pistol" thing with his hand. Interesting he sang "Bad Blood", cuz there is certainly bad blood between he and Simon. I don't think Reuben is as good as he was. I wonder if he is over confident and not practicing as much?????? He is naturally very talented, to be sure, but he doesn't blow me away anymore. Kimberly was great. I missed Trenyce - must have been tucking in my littlest one. Yes, Clay has improved by stopping the eye-fluttering thing. He seems pretty humble, unless it's an act. Kimberly seems humble too. I imagine Josh will go tonight. It's definitely been a fun season!

I absolutely cannot believe that Josh sat on that couch safe and Trenyce was sent home!!! Richard, you must be crying your heart out!

Goes to show you the difference between the American public voting for popularity vs talent. - Donna

I think it was a case of over confidence in many ways. Plus a case (and yall will hate me for say ing this) homophobia.

We aren't ready for Ruben to go. But we have not cast a single vote for him. With Randy and Simon saying that he is a shoe in for winning this contest, we figure that everyone else in America is voting for him. So we don't. Apparantly, a few others in the USA took that same posture. Not many, but enough.

And with Josh? Three things came into play. First, he is a marine and the USA is at war. It is our patriotic duty to vote for Josh. I think bought him a VERY few votes. Second, on Tuesday last week Simon made a crack about Josh making a hair coloring commercial and this week they made repartee back and forth about drag queens. Ryan and Simon made lots of gay inside jokes. I think Josh got a very few votes from the pro-straight voters.

But we live in "good ole boy" white USA central. I asked a few young women yesterday who they wanted to win American Idol and the three I asked all wanted "that cute country singer." Josh is a cutie. I think Simon's comment was right on the money when he said that he hopes the public will vote based on singing ability in the future.

So between "everyone else is voting for Ruben so I won't bother" and Josh's patriotic duty, pro-straight voters, and "gosh, he's cute" - Josh got the votes over Ruben.

What's REALLY interesting is that Kimberly got the votes over Ruben! Eh?

But I agree. Between Ruben, Kimberly, and Clay ... when I close my eyes, Ruben is not the one I like to hear.

And what I hear the best is the kids singing together.

Steve and I also thought that the BEST thing that could have happened to Ruben's career is for him to have voted OFF last night. Like Vanessa William and the Miss America pageant. What a great scandal for Ruben! What publicity! He would have a CD on the top of the charts and be rich in a matter of weeks! The winner of AI owuld be yesterday's news - it would mean nothing since Ruben was robbed (LOL).

Oh well, Trenyce, would not have won anyway. Josh now has to face the wrath of the house with everyone inthe house and the country knowing that HE should have been voted off this week. Even he knew it. You know he knew it ... his face was in his hands.

I tried watching A.I. for the first time last night and although I really enjoyed all the singing etc. I couldn't take all the bright lights flashing and the audience screaming (both huge migraine triggers for me), so I had to switch it off after about 20 minutes. Does it not bother anyone else?

I have not watched AI. I was surprised to hear that Ruben was from Birmingham, just an hour north of me.

A local radio station plays his previous nights performance for all of us to hear. I admit that the last one I heard was not that stellar. He did not show his range and talent like he has in the past. There was word that he didnt feel good in the past week or so??? Oh well...

Even though it would be great to have someone from Alabama win AI, I think you are correct in that he would have an album and a career ahead of him no matter what. All he needed was exposure.

I think Ruben gets off tune occasionally and I don't like his voice. I can't believe Randy said he is the winner.

I think Clay has the best voice. Always on tune and sounds very unique.

Clay may not be a looker (although his looks have grown on me) but his voice is the closest to perfect pitch than any of them. He may not be considered an "American Idol" but in my opinion he has the best voice and whether he is voted the "American Idol" or not ....he will go far in the music business.

I like Kim second best. I wouldn't mind if she wins ....but if they were to pick a winner based on the most unique, perfect pitch, and awesome voice ...it would be Clay.
