Journal of Migraine Sufferers

I had the opportunity to try my new med yesterday, Ultram. After taking two and no relief, with the pain escalating, I took an Amerge. Still no relief, so I called the Nuroligist. He had me take another Amerge, along with a Hydrocodone. The headache was now about a 9 or 10, but without the nausa. This kicked in in about 30 minutes. Now I was completely numb, dizzy and unable to walk by myself. This was around 6PM last evening, it's 10 AM the next morn., and I'm still semi numb, but able to at least move around on my own. I've had two accupunture's and I'm hopeful this will help. I had the nerve block in January, and it did stop the severe pain on the top of my head but now have worse pain at the base of my skull. The Dr. wonts to do another nerve block, but I'm not convinced to try another since it just relocated the pain.

After about 7 years of almost daily headaches, monthly migraines, 3 one week hospital visits and a variety of drugs, some of which had bad side affects, I have quit taking all my prescription medicines. I seem to be no worse and maybe a little bit better. Has anyone experienced pregnancy and migraines? What drugs were you able to take? Am I crazy for even considering it? How do you deal with quilt due to missing work?

Is it just me, or are there some people posting on the board that seem to be advertising here? This is not a board to get a clientel for your MLM's. Please, if it is something that worked for you, by all means share it with the crowd. HOWEVER, if you are posting here just to get income, you are doing us more of a disservice than anything else. Beleive me when I tell you that Migraneures will TRY just about anything for relief, but most of us are tired of throwing away money after ellusive "cures". Since posting I have recieved NUMEROUS responses that offer these "amazing cures" and supposed "pain free life" if only I would try so & so's diet or pills. Most of these offerings are no better than snake oil! ***stepping off soapbox*** Sorry if I was out of line, but I'm tired of being thought of as the next Big thing (MLM's) patsy. Thanks for listening to me rant. ** Someone who's been there **

I guess I don't have it as bad as many people when it comes to migraines. I only get 3 or 4 per year. When I feel them coming on {blurred vision, numbness on the opposite side the migraine will be on and a nausiated feeling}I have about 10 minutes before I will loose most vision from one eye and need total darkness and quite. I have been taking exta strength tylenol, tylenol 3 when I feel one coming on. The doctor last time perscribed Migranal it is a Dihydroergotamine Mesylate Nasal Spray. Has anyone heard of this or used it. It worked verry fast 20 minutes but came back 3 hours later and took about 45 minutes to get rid of second one. But, side effects I am experiencing is a numbness on the left side of my head {side migrane was on} If anyone can shed any lite for me please drop me a line.

Day 8 of my withdrawl from over use of acitominophen & codeine pills. At long last things seem to be improving - I'm confident now that I can stick this out. What's most exiting is that I finally seem to be responding to other medications. I had a severe migraine attack last night, took one Amerge tablet, and 45 minutes later it stopped the headache cold in it's tracks - 100% gone! I knew it was still hovering because I could still feel all of the muscle tension around my skull - but no pain. I have never had success with Imitrex or Amerge in the past - but now that I'm off the analgesics - it seems to be working. The side effects of Amerge are pretty major - they leave me in a pretty stunned state of mind. Anyone else had experience with Amerge? Has anyone ever gotten a comparison of Imitrex to Amerge? Thanks everyone - and thanks to the host of this page. Let anyone who says the Internet is a frivilous collection of useless info & dirty pictures come a read a few entries here and see what the net can really do to better peoples lives!

Hi Guys----I'm back in the journal again hoping that I can get another answer from you pertaining to an ad I saw on tv claiming that excedrin migraine tablets do indeed work on migraines. I have to admit I'm skepticle about this. Over the years I have used regular excedrin and it never really worked for me. I read the write up on the box and frankly it didn't seem much different from the regular one. So, my question is-----has anyone tred it out there and did it really work for you? Thanks again Carol
